Safety and Ethics
Students and adult supervisors are responsible for conducting and displaying projects safely. Review the Youth Science Canada safety and ethics policies before beginning any experiment.
Exhibit safety
Consider whether a visitor—especially a young child—could touch or spill something and be hurt. The fair source prohibits plants, soil, mould, bacteria, petri dishes and displays containing more than one litre of liquid; use photographs or video where needed. Read the full Rules and Regulations for display, materials and hazard requirements.
Ethical research
Human participants must be treated with respect and dignity, and their wellbeing and privacy protected. Animal welfare must be respected, and projects should avoid harming natural ecosystems. Required approvals and forms must be completed before experimentation begins.
When unsure whether an activity needs review, contact the fair before beginning. See Youth Science Canada policies and resources.
